How old are the cylinders? Could be leaking seals.

For what it costs you may want to try a seal repair kit, as it's easier I'd try the slave first.

The other thing consider is becoming a TMF+ member, among other things you can apply for 7.5% discount from MiniSpares and it supports the forum.

The slave cylinder kit costs about £5 plus some hydraulic fluid.

personally, just change the master and slave - it'll need doing in your ownership anyway and be good to get new fluid in.

£80 all in approx.

If the clutch hydraulics are life expired, which is inevitable as cars get older, I strongly recommend having a very close look at your brake hydraulics, which are "somewhat more important" and may be of similar age.

They invariably need doing if a car has been laid up for a while, which is why the hydraulics should be about the last thing in a restoration, but as the seals are rubber, ozone, traces of hydrocarbon vapour and various other pollutants gradually cause them to deteriorate at the best of times..
