Get on and restore it especially of you have the skills yourself. You never know what life has round the corner for you,you might lose the ability to do it yourself and then you'll be annoyed about it just degrading.

Thank you for your input I think the restore route is favourite and I am giving the car a serious looking at.

Degradation is quite advanced, as it has been stood unused for 31 years and the wheelbase being 8mm to short is going to be tricky problem to overcome.

Regarding my cooper that I repaired 18 months ago and have not used I am considering taking it for a mot and advertise for sale.

You cant sell a car that your Grandmother bought you!

Restore it, drive it occasionally and enjoy it.

I rarely park my Mk1 anywhere that I cant see it when Im out and about in it, wary of thieving barstewards or jealous small minded people causing damage!
