As per title , Im looking for the cheapest 20w50 mineral oil, reason being I have just installed a second hand engine and want to run it for a 100 miles or so on some cheap oil to help clear out all the crap , then after put some good quality millers in or such.

Does anyone know whos selling the cheapest at the minute, I am sure wilkinsons did 5 litres for a £10 last time I was there.

Do not ever use cheap oil. You can do immense harm. If you need to clean it out, use a proper flushing oil, as instructed by the manufacturer and for as brief a time as possible.

Nope, they came as a gallon (4.546 litres) and you had to buy an extra pint 'because mini takes 9 pints with filter. A tad more with an oil cooler.

I found some comma 20w50 5 litres for £12 at wilco motorsave.

Also to rebuttle what you say about cheap oil, on something like my mini which I just put an average condition second hand engine in I would much

rather use a cheaper oil and change it every 6 months or say every few thousand miles, than use the dearer stuff.

And Ive never used a flushing oil or any of the off the shelf additives because I don't beleive theres really much benefit from these products.

i was told that oil is oil, it comes from basically the same place, its the addatives inside of it that make the difference...

Thats like saying all the bread in the UK comes from the same place..

Buy cheap buy twice, millers for me, around £27 a tub. I only use halfords / minispares own for running in / cam knock in.

Thats what my local mechanic does with all his cars when he 1st gets them .. drop the oil for some cheaper stuff, runs it for a few miles then swaps it out for better stuff with a filter change.

This youtube video is an interesting take on flushing ... I dont think I'd buy a car off him.
