I am looking to find a CAT back system.

I assume (in general) when the bore is stated it only refers to the bore of the rear silencers?

For example, in this system here - is the link pipe also 1 7/8?

Again unknown

1 7/8 should be the ID of all the pipes.

So 2" OD.

to be honest I would call Manifow and tel them what you need and order it direct.

I have been trying to call maniflow all day without any luck.

I am struggling to understand the bore size  and what the figures of each exhaust actually mean. I mean, does the  2" just refer to the tail piece or the internal diameter of the rear silencer?

I managed to speak to someone an minisport, who explained that on the single box  1 7/8 maniflow system the long pipe which runs from the CAT to the rear silencer is actually 1 3/4. that is because the flange on that part must fit the flange on the CAT. This also means that the slotted opening on the rear silencer is also only 1 3/4.

I guess all systems are the same. So the diameter on any exhaust only refers to the rear box and or tailpipe?

Or am I totally wrong?

it is confusing - When I bought an exhaust for my Audi I ordered a 2.5" system and thats what it was all the way.

unlikely to get answers over a weekend especially may bank holiday.

a 2" OD should give a 1 7/8" ID and a 1 7/8" OD gives a 1 3/4" ID  and as no company states which measurement they are using.....

minispares list the tail pipe size but again are as clear as mud.

I would say this is what you want

http://www.maniflow....58&product=1153 with http://www.maniflow....ct&product=1232

as if you look at their sizing they have 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 I would say that they are ID

Yeah I made that mistake when I tried calling yesterday :).

But I have literally called then 7 times today, I guess they are catching up from their missed day.

As you say it is all as clear as mud. we have no idea what is for sale.

I assume when people are saying they have a 3 inch system it at best only refers to the rear silencer and tail pipe and at worst the just tail pipe?

I am looking at that system you linked, but the single box version. but then the link pipe is only 1 3/4.

Thats the one the chap at Minisport said the CAT to silencer link pipe was 1 3/4. He said that was due to fitting the "ball" flange on the CAT.

I guess only Maniflow can confirm

Seems firms don't even know what they are selling themselves.

Called about  the new RC40 2.25" bore, to ask if this was the just the tail pipe. Chap explained it was the tail pipe and the rear silencer, which was a surprise. I then asked what the size of the other end of the silencer was and was told either 1 3/4 or 1 7/8. I asked which and also asked him to confirm the first answer, I  was passed to a technician who's answer machine answered.

I know. i went through this last time and it is pathetic.

there is a standard in industry where hose and pipe are measured. hose is internal and pipe is external. so you know what will fit what.

the only guy who could give me a straight answer and was very helpful (unfortunately I am not in a place to order from him at the moment it) Fusion fabrications. drop him a message on here or Facebook about a custom system from the manifold back (think he does CATs as well).

Finally Ordered.

I found that Fletcher did a 2" system which also include a 2" CAT back link pipe. Info again was a bit unclear in many places.

I called some of the smaller suppliers of parts, mixed quality of information.

I called P&L minis, A company I have never used before. The lady I spoke to pulled the system of the shelf and measured the various parts while I was on the phone. Good customer service.

CAT to rear box look pipe 50mm OD

Inlet pipe to silencer 50mm OD

Tail pipe 2.5" OD - that part is a little larger than I wanted but it is only the tail section.

What sold it was the larger diameter CAT to silencer link pipe, which no one else seemed to offer.
