I have a 1992 carb cooper and snapped the fan switch witch is on the sandwitch plate ywl10010 I believe it is and there 70 pounds was wondering if the transducer in later minis will do the same thing or any help really but 70 for a switch is a bit steep :/

I think it's a sensor in the sandwich plate. The plug is inside the nearside wing. You can wire a switch to that and mount it somewhere, I put mine on the little panel low down by the drivers door and just ran the auxiliary fan and switched on the second fan as and when needed.

I managed to break it too - and I have a switch in the same place as MrP. They must be very fragile it only took the sling to slip when I was lifting the engine out :shy:

I replaced mine as it was not working when I bought my RSP. The trouble is it is very eager to switch the fan on at stupidly low temperatures.
