I've been reading and enjoying everyone else's threads documenting their progress with their Mini restoration projects and have decided to start mine and share my progress from the very beginning :)

 

On Thursday 4th May 2017 I collected our little Roxy, she hasn't been on the road since 2008 and our goal is to have her back on the road by the 10th April 2021 for my wife's 40th birthday.

 

She started up just fine but has a bottom end knocking so my first job is to tackle this, I will try to work from front to back and complete each job in sequence before moving on.

 

Here is Roxy being collected on the back of a trailer:

All play has been postponed for now as I don't have the 38mm socket required to remove the clutch

Just a quick monthly update, the engine is now mostly stripped down and the front subframe has been removed ready for restoration. I have spent a bit of time at the weekend building a new bench to work on the engine as the old Ikea desk I was using was not performing very well with the weight of the engine, plus it was too low.

 

I will be starting on the engine rebuild once the subframe has been completed but this is going to take time, I have just ordered a tool to get the rubber donuts out, these are being replaced along with the tie rods. Everything else looks to be in a usable state and should be good after a clean up and paint.

 

I have some body work repairs to do inside the engine bay/bulkhead but this can wait for now.

Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts and was gutted for you when I saw the accident damage. Not sure if I could go through it all again like you have, good on you.

Wow 6 months have past since my last post. Just a quick update, I have been busy stripping Roxy of all her parts and plan to restore each one as I go. The front subframe has now been restored and semi rebuilt. I'm currently working on the front hubs which I have fully stripped down, cleaned and sprayed and just awaiting some parts before reassembly.

Most of the bodywork is pretty sound, the floor probably needs replacing as it has a large hole in the passenger footwell and some small ones in the drivers footwell. I haven't really got a plan yet but the car is almost fully stripped down and once the front sub frame is complete I'm going to remove the rear one and work on that next.
