Hi guys, as the title states, I'm having issue with the note inside the cabin around that 4000rpm or 100 kph.
It causes me to question life and why I choose to drive this bloody car......well not really, but you get what I mean.
Now, engine is 1275 metro, standard bore, freshly rebuilt, balanced and lightened.
Evo 1 cam with appropriate dizzy.
Head has had work, nothing major, reshaped internals and valves, and just a quick tidy of the ports and a good skim off the face.
MED front pulley, Minispares lightened flywheel setup.
Twin 1.25 carbs with MED velocity stacks and Ramair filter.
LCB manifold and RC40 twin muffler exhaust system.
Anything I can try to reduce the drone would be awesome, it's worse when you come off the throttle.

As above or try above 4000 rpm / 100kph, fit a louder stereo system, more sound deadening under the carpet, wear ear defs or sell your mini and buy a plastic fantastic hybrid.

Your problem sounds like music to my ears, there's people out there that would love your car/engine spec, but each to their own eh?

Don't get me wrong, the car is epic to drive, and it could only be pried from my cold dead hand......I more want to know if it completely normal or if I've pieced something together wrong. I built it all ya see.
It's not really cruzing at 100kph that you have the drone but when you come back down through the rev range.
Guess it is what it is.

What sort of mounting bushes on subframes?
Do you have standard engine steadies?
Anything polybushed will make everything firmer but also adds to the extra drone.
I would also love all the extra drone.
Just pick a better speed to drive at or wear a crash hat.

My wife just told me she doesn't know what I'm complaining about and I need to grow a set.
Love my wife and her honest yet vicious tongue..... haha
No poly bushes, all standard mounts on exhaust and engine.
I should just shut up and drive it!

There's no way that should be too noisy - I've had a 1330 but otherwise with a very similar engine and the same exhaust. That'll be pushing out something north of 80 bhp through a sound reducing exhaust, it's no jet engine. As above, you need to sort your sound deadening, stay under or push past the 4k point or just put up with it. The only other things maybe vibration from your mounts, if you've got all solids or poly that could do it, or perhaps a lack of sound deadening under your roof lining. My mate has the latter issue and when his revs hit a certain point it creates a droning sound.

Ok now for a slightly serious question.

What air filters are fitted?

My last exhaust was a straight through single RC40 muffler, centre exit style, different tone to this exhaust but nowhere near as loud.
