He needs an  AP2 pump ?  really has he checked it out ?  they don't normally wear that much, but if required I can fit new bushes and clean and then recheck it for you ?

The car is an L reg (1993) Mini

He just said an oil pump, so I shall assume the cam driven type?

Edit its the AP2 unit, MRA what is your turn around time on the rebuild for these?

The vehicle owner has a question...

What's the best run in process for a rebuilt box and new crank?

The transmission doesn't have much of a run in process, but driven carefully is something that should be done for the first 100 or so miles checking that all gears work, ie no slip or tie up (trying to engage more than one gear at once) any severe engagements should be investigated.

A few main points to consider :-

1) Only 10/40 oil NOT 20/50.

2) The governor control rod must be adjusted correctly once tick over is established.

3) The bands (there are 3) must be correctly adjusted, this is done by allowing the bands to sit back on the 3 high contact points within the case, slacken off the adjusters but DO NOT adjust the spring platform height unless they are incorrect, once released then adjust them to give 1 to 2 mm of slack but not lifting off the 3 high points, they must always be able to sit back on to these points, I have found all sorts of adjustments that just made the whole system worse.

4) When checking the oil level.... warm up the engine, turn off and 60 seconds (more accurate you are the better the reading) dip it and see where you are, too low and the transmission will get all manner of ills, too high and it will in all probability blow seals and possibly some gaskets.

Running in of the engine, if you have a new camshaft then follow the camshaft manufacturers proposals, normally that entails 30 minutes of 3000 to 3500rpm.  but this is the very simplified bare bones of the running in process there are a lot of things you need to know and do, like never let it idle within the first 30 minutes of cam break in.
