After having bought an mpi about 5 years ago, I have finally got round to signing up having followed threads for some time!
For any other newbies it's invaluable for advise.
My mpi although having lowish mileage came with the fractory standard fitting....rust !! The scuttles had been done by a previous owner, and I have just replaced both sills , and having the luxury of e use of a 4. Post lift spent last weekend clearing and waxoling.
Having a reasonable skills level I replaced the rear sub frame...and got off very lightly with only having one mounting bolt to drill out, and over time have replaced all the mounting bushes around the car which makes a great difference, along with an adjustable caster/camber kit which I would recommend throughly.
I love the social etiquette in driving a mini that no other make has , the polite wave and flash.

Welcome fellow noobie MPI owner.

I have recently replaced my inner and outer sills on both sides too! The previous owner very lovingly fitted oversills!!! Brilliant. And the scuttle is next as mine is currently 80% filler thanks to caring previous owners!

Anyways, hello =).

The scuttles on mine were done relatively early in the cars life e.g about 10 years ago ,and interestingly the receipt was with the paperwork, and done by wood and picket... at a very chocking cost.
I had one outersill replaced about 3 years ago ,and l learnt my lesson as it was an oversill which mearly masked and trapped moisture and recent work revealed a nest of horrors.

Here is the horror...same on both sides...and car never sees a wet road... how we would all love to sue the owners of rover at the time for their disregard to rust proofing as recently as 1999...the Bimini came out within less than 12 months! And they never suffered so badly....oh the joys of mini ownership...which I never regret!
