Good Evening,

Now I'm not sure if I'm being a moron here, or whether I'm using the wrong parts.

I recently purchased a set of used Minispares 4pot calipers, for 7.5" discs, non-vented.

I have had Metro 4 Pot calipers on the car, vented discs, up until this point.

I purchased new Cooper S discs and uprated EN24T drive flanges, from Minspares, which means, on the front hubs of my mini, I should now have everything listed in this kit... (give or take uprated material components). https://minispares.c...23.aspx|Back to

Now, having gone to fit everything to the car tonight, I'm struggling with the spacing from the calipers from the lugs of the hub/from the disc face. Now my problem is, with the discs/flanges mounted on the CV drive splines, the caliper lugs won't actually meet the front knuckle lugs.

I have a feeling that I have read something about this before on here, but can't for the life of me find the thread it was in. I have attached a photo of the problem, if you look down the back of the caliper, you can see the amount of the bolt shown between the lugs that is the spacing that I need to lose somehow.

Thanks in advance, H.

dont see the big washer spacers that you need to fit between hub and caliper. fit them.

Hi
this is the same problem if you have KAD 4 pot calipers.
They all require a spacer top and bottom between the caliper and the hub,
Bolt goes through hub then spacer and screws into caliper on each bolt.
This is from personal experience as i run KAD'S

Bit hard to tell for sure but it appears the 'hat' on the disc is too deep and in fact the disc is sitting too deep over the hub and at this point, is contacting the steering arm.

Is the outer wheel bearing cone still in place?

what this thread has done is show why the alloy spacers are included with the calipers.

they go between the caliper with the S discs and on the 8.4 they can be used inboard of the caliper to allow you to use the provided bolts. it also means they only have one caliper design for both set ups.

you can see the spacers on my 8,4 set up here.

Thanks for this Nicklouse! It would appear that's what I'm missing. I shall see if the seller still has these, or if minispares are able to provide them, or dimensions for them to allow me to make some. Are you suggesting that the calipers are identical between the 7.5 and 8.4 setups, just spaced differently? If so, that's a useful nugget of information!

I know that the disc does run very close to the steering arm on this setup, but before fitting the caliper, I did check that the disc all span freely and didn't foul anything. I've even heard of people machining a little off their steering arms for clearance! Although close, I have 4/5mm clearance, so won't be machining anything myself!

i would call Minispares and ask if the seller does not have them.
