A lot of now-valuable classic cars were badly modified in the past. Typically E-types were fitted with parts to make them look faster. Bonnets had scoops fitted for example.
Now that an early 3.8 fixed head has just sold for over £500,000 there will be a big effort to put them back to standard to regain the value.
The same will happen with our classic Minis. It has already happened to Mk.1 & Mk.2 cars and over the next 10 years it will happen to all of them.
Why de-value your car whilst, at the same time making it less safe and less desirable?
