Hi guys,

Basically I'm in a bit of a predicament. Last year I decided to get a daily car so asked to move the NCD from the policy of my mini to the daily (still through Adrian flux that I've been with for the last 3 years) to which I was told I only have 1 years NCD and it wasn't gained through them it was from my very first years insurance with admiral. I questioned this as I have been insured with Adrian flux at that point for 3 years, they told me they had mirrored my NCD from admiral for those years. Now I don't know a lot about insurance so had to just leave it very pissed off and pay full price for my 2 cars which are both old and 1L so isn't that much. However I've now got to the point where I want to sell my cheap daily and get a bit of a nicer car (Audi a3 2L) however cause I have no NCD and am only 21 I am left looking to pay upwards of £2500 just for insurance. I still have evidence of the first years NCD from admiral but it would be out of date now so makes no difference.

Anyone with anymore knowledge of insurance than me tell me if this sounds right and what if anything I can do?

Are you on a classic car policy?

I don't believe so. I thought you had to be 25 and over for that?

Ask Flux depending on who they placed the policy with you might not have accrued NCB.
NCB stays good for two years. Yes most classic policies mean you need to be over 25.
Some brokers give credit for time driving like Direct Line.

Not clear why you haven't accrued further NCB while with Adrian Flux over the last few years? What does your policy say about gaining additional years on your claims bonus?

You have 4 years no claims by the sounds of it. Continuous insurance for 4 years and no claims.
Usually can only be used on 1 car at a time unless "mirrored"
Go back to your insurance company ask they how many years have you got with them and how many claims have you made. The answer is then simple and get them to send you an email or letter to that effect.

With some specialists insurers you won't accrue NCD - so they may be correct in what they are telling you. I would read carefully your policy docs to find out. If you do find you have no NCD then it may pay to shop around as some insurers may give some credit that you have been driving for 3 consecutive claim free years, albeit have no formal NCD.
