Hi there - i've been meaning to fit a towing eye but its got a flip front and doesn't have a teardrop mount to use the normal item, hence, i've put this on the 'too hard' list until now.

Thinking about a strap instead like TRS/ Sparco or OMP all do ones which end in a single bolt (only looks M10 or something).

I was thinking of bolting it to one of the existing holes near the radiator (see pic) but can't really find a 'route' through or around the front end so it isn't bent when the car is towed.

Really interested if anyone has tackled a similar problem!

If you get an MPI one you could bolt it through the subframe pointing downwards which would clear the flip front when open and would allow the rope to tow the car without the rope cutting into the fibreglass?

I'd drill the bottom just big enough to slot it in the drill a hole just big enough for the bolt in the top edge so the fat section would spread the load into the subframe, a spring washer would keep it in place but a neat bit of mig weld to secure it would be even better.

A TOW sticker with an arrow pointing down to it to finish the job :)

Possible idea but i'm not sure if the bolt would be ok if it doesn't stick directly out the right of the car..

You'd fit it running lengthways pointing down wherever you like along the front box section giving a rope the ability to pull at a smooth angle in all directions if that makes sense?

Keep your towing eye inside the car, unattached and unused and it will be perfectly reliable. Fit it to the car and it will immediately break down so that you can try out your new addition.

Ask me how I know  >_<

Ha your probably right! Doing a track day though and thought i better make sure i have some way to tow it easily!

City E Pete - I must admit, i'm not sure what you mean..?

I've started to think that perhaps i cut a large-ish dia hole in the flip front and the bolt the MPi tow eye you suggest above through the hole. Does mean though that i wouldn't be able to open the front while its in.

Seems like that worked out. Thanks for the heads up on the MPi tow eye, didn't know those existed.
