I can't see where it says it's a reshell.

Bargain in my eyes

It says in the advert text that the car was re-shelled into a 1960 shell, if I was in the market for a 1959 Mini I would want it in a 1959 shell with all the little early features in place, perhaps that's why it's a little cheaper than the average 59' Mini

as the others say it does not.

there is the repair in 67 but that was not a reshell

the only bit mentioning 1960 is about the standardization of the production.

In the text of the advert on their website it says the following

A Front End number of FE68802 confirms dating of August 1960 to the body after the repairs.

Now why would replacement body panels come with a FE number, I know you used to be able to buy complete front ends for the cars including a bulkhead (though I've only seen these for the MK4 on single subframe bolt cars), but none of those had any sort of identification on them that I saw.

The text to me seems to indicate that the whole body is 1960, why would a replacement front end have been sat around for 7 years before being used ?

Also the roof gutter drain holes look presses rather than drilled, it's also hard to tell if the front and rear screens have recesses or not, one looks like it has but it could be a trick of the light.

I may be completely wrong, I've got no axe to grind with the seller, it looks like a well finished car it's just how I'm interpreting the text of the Advert.

If I wanted a 59' then this wouldn't be the one for me, perhaps that makes me the fool as the price is certainly competitive.

When did the sill design change from the very early type to the much different later Mk.1 type? I can't remember, but this car seems to have the early sill design.

I am still tempted to go and take a look at it as it's not far from me. The problem is I have no-where to put it if I bought it. It wuld sit well with my two 1964 Minis and I have a couple of sets of Mk.1 10" steel wheels to make it more original-looking.

Better not go look as I'll end up making an offer for it  .

I'm off on holiday with my wife at the end of next week, but if it is still for sale when I get back I might well be very tempted.

My Grandson is going to take my 'S' for its MoT next week as I am a bit short of time, then he wants to take it to a classic car show at Kimbolton on the 9th July. At 22-years-old I guess he is very proud to have the 1964 genuine 100+ bhp rally 'S' to drive to shows. It does give me a lot of pleasure to have him do this.

When you are retired there never seems to be enough hours in the day! This week I have to collect a 998 block & head from the machine shop, do some work on my son's 1978 RS2000 rally car, then put it on my trailer and deliver it back to him near Silverstone. I finally got the gearbox assembled onto the engine and the engine into the car. The rear gearbox mounting needs some modification and welding as it's a 'rocket' competition box.

Final basic assembly of the 998 Cooper engine will be early next week and I want to get the roof of my 1964 850 ready for high-build primer, the doors, boot and bonnet trial fitted and some high-build primer on the rear quarter panels ready for final sanding back.

Grandson just got given (for fre) a 2000 X-plate Mazda MX5 1.8. It has a new MoT, but needs a bit of non-structural welding, which he and I will do together shortly. He also has a good-condition replacement hood to fit, so when all done it will be a nice modern classic we can both drive and enjoy. I love the way it drives as the tyres are not too wide and it is RWD. Very traditional feel to it. On a twisty road it is easy to carry the speed smoothly through the corners and to kill any understeer with a flick and a bit of throttle, rather like an early Escort Twin-Cam. In fact, I think I prefer an MX5 to a late model Mini MPI with the silly wheels, scruffy looking wheel arch extensions and propensity to rust.

Then it's off on a ship to Norway to celebrate my wife's BIG birthday (don't ask).

How did I ever find time to go to work when I had to? Now, what shall I do when I grow up  ;D .

I also want to go fly my vintage sailplane on Sunday if the weather is good and I think I have a friend to take for a flight in one of the 2-seaters at the gliding club.

1959 for sale, at £15k it seems a bargain, but its not 100% right. The devil is in the detail!

So many differences in just one year!

The guys on the 59 register are very critical about this car. It is a 60 shell apparently
