having called both MED and DSN

Both the MED and the DSN housing are 1/4 NPT (tapered).

DSN assured me that the the issue I thought i was having is a non issue. I should use  some thread sealant-

I have the DSN one and I just used ptfe tape and its held up just fine.

I used ptfe tape on my DSN oil filter head / oil  temp sender connections, seemed to work.

Did the adapter screw all the way into the housing like in my picture?

Yes it did, at first I thought it was the wrong fitting. Just make sure you put plenty of turns on.

No problem, don't forget to wind the tape on clockwise otherwise it will unravel when you start to tighten it up. You need to put enough on to give plenty of resistance but not so much that it feels as though the housing will burst.
