I'm going to be replacing my alternator and have ordered a new belt, question is do I put on the new one with the new alternator or leave the old one on and carry the new one as a spare. Cheers Graham

Take the belt off and turn inside out.
Check for cracks if ok then still usable.
Check width and thickness against the new one.
If its a lot different then use the new one and keep the old as a spare

Belts are cheap, buy another, fit a new one and keep the other new one for a spare.
