Hi all,
Now a few years ago I built a very nice 1098 motor for my then saloon, nothing crazy, 40 thou over with an SW05-07 camshaft, twin su and full rc40 exhaust, pretty standard stuff. It has been pocketed for a 1300 head, which lowered the compression (not done by me).
I've not had the motor back long enough to have done any calculations of CR etc, that's yet to come.
What should I be aiming for?
I then sold the car to a mate....he has since pulled the motor and fitted a 1275 lump.
He promptly returned the 1098 to me.
Now I have another mate who builds manifolds etc and he has done me a deal on a turbo manifold, I don't want to fit this to my 1275 so I figured I would slap up a 1098 unit.
The motor has a set of Hypertech pistons from Australia, which I read would handle the pressure of a turbo....is this correct?

I'm going to strip it down and have it balanced etc, but don't want to change Pistons if not needed.
The motor has only done about 1000kms since it was built.
Is this worth doing or is it just a turd at the bottom of a hill and nothing to use but a sharp stick?
Thanks guys.
P.s, be kind, I know five fifths about turbos hahaha

It's just a shortblock at the moment, previous owner kept the gearbox and head.
For the purpose of balancing.

No idea about the pistons, I can see how less piston above the pin might cause issues. It might be worth also looking at inline A enthusiast resources to find info. Blowers and long strokes ought to compliment each other☺

If they're the pistons that Graham Russell sells in Australia then they're very good.

Im thinking of also turboing my 1100 so info on the compresion ratio and other bits and bobs would be really helpful for me too hah(also new to turboing a mini).
