Some of you may have seen my valuations thread for my mini recently, but I'm not sure I want to sell it so am considering selling the engine separately. It's still in the car so can be seen running and I can take you for a drive.

The engine spec:

1430cc rebuilt around 7000 miles ago
Omega pistons
Stroked balanced and nitrided crank
Lightened S rods
Med xtr camshaft
Med billet pushrods
Piper alloy steel vernier duplex timing gear.
Morspeed 36/30 sprint head (unleaded).
Titan full roller rockers
Med ultralight verto flywheel and clutch assembly
Reconditioned helical gearbox from Guessworks with xpin diff and a 3.44 final drive.
Minispares straight cut transfer gears.
Weber 45 dcoe on a minispares alloy manifold.
The exhaust system is a maniflow large bore lcb with twin box 2" bore system.
Recurved electronic ignition distributor and lucas sports coil.

I'm not in a rush to sell, so I'll set the price at £1500. Open to negotiate price and would be interested In a swap deal with a good 998.

Thanks, Matt

Apologies for spamming your thread but I must just say that your mini sits perfect - I love it

Keep it with this engine in. It's the perfect mix , sits right, nice n rough round the edges and goes like the clappers I bet.

Thanks for the replies. You're right Merv, I am worried the mini will loose a bit of its spark but at the minute I need something a bit more tame.

Remembered last night I forgot to put down where I am - I'm in Bedfordshire, roughly in between Bedford and Luton.

Hi Matt, have you decided to sell your engine or are you in two minds, if so let me know a time that suits and I will arrange to come and see you, I have a 1000 cc engine out of a k plate 1971, but I would assume it needs a rebuild, never seen it run, but totally original, if you are interested , cheers

OK that's not too far I'm on the south coast.

I do not have a 998, but I do have.....

An mg metro engine
A spi Cooper engine - these run great with a hif44 carb
A normal 1275 with a big valve head.
A 1275mpi
Or actually I do have a 998 but it's *******

I'm just testing the water somewhat, I'm in no great rush to make any changes. Happy to do a straight sale and leave myself engine-less for a bit, happy to do a deal with something more standard. It'd have to be in good running condition though really, I've got too many projects as it is!

I have a standard 998, running and just serviced in my Mk1. Just did the North Coast 500 route in it, no hassle what so ever. What sort of deal could we work out?

Sorry for the confusion and the late replies, I've been away for a few days.

It is still for sale. As far as a swap deal goes, I guess a good 998 is worth around £300?!

Thanks for the reply - I'd be pretty interested in a good MG metro 1275.

What would you value it at?

Mate !! If I lived in the UK i would buy that engine for the asking price. What a shame I can't put it my suit case.

Cheers

Frank
