First of all apologies if this is the umpteenth thread of this nature, but I'm in the process of purchasing a mini.
It's a mk3 1971 Morris/Austin (one or other come up via hpi or insurance search).
It's white- original colour - thing is, is it old English white or leyland white or something else entirely?

by the way how do I add photos?

Chances are it's (BLVC 59) Glacier White.... but only IF it's the original shell & not a later car masquerading as a tax exempt Mk3 (far too many of those out there).

IF it's a Genuine MK3 the roof drain hole is here (pic courtesy of Batmini).

All checked out and genuine:)
Even got all paperwork, mots and receipts dating right back to 1998 when it wouldn't have been exempted either and hpi shows clear

I'll figure this photo thing out at some point and show some pictures. It's like a creamy white quite similar to the modern pepper white (but 100% not the same). It might well have just aged over the years to be honest definitely no sign of a respray

All checked out and genuine:).... Round transmission tunnel, twin bolt subframe, ashtrays in the rear companion bins -Excellent! :-)

A 1971 would have been tax Exempt in 1996. Tax Exemption used to be 25+ years old (not 40+ as it is now).

Sorry but Hpi checks/old mot's/receipts etc don't mean squat.... Only the correct Mk3 shell means that it's genuine.

Can't seem to find any alternative to Glacier White for early 70's Minis (the 1960's creamy whites just weren't fashionable by then).

Ashtrays in rear - check
Twin bolt suspension- check
Round transmission tunnel not checked, and there's something about the gear lever iirc can you remember what it is?

to be honest the exemption thing is an eye opener, my ex-husband swore blind that the 1971 (no seatbelts) mk1 ford escort I drove (once) wasn't exempt yet his 60's car was

If it's got an original 850 lump it will have a 'Magic Wand' (also known as a pudding stirrer). The 1000cc would have been fitted with a remote gear lever.

- the later rod change mechanism (developed for the Allegro) & square transmission tunnel was fitted from Jan '73.

The 'rolling 25 year rule' was stopped in the 1997 budget, re-introduced in the 2014 budget but only for cars over 40 years old.

Confused as a 1971 would have been tax exempt by 1997.... even if it was a Ford Escort :P

I've got loads of photos I've taken of it. Are you on Facebook? Specifically the LSMOC page?

Also ex was a moron, hence one of the reasons I divorced him lol

Could be Snowberry white, which was between Old English and Glacier in date.
