Great job, I had the same issue on my manifold pipes and simply cut the rusty ends off and used an extra hose clip, not ideal. Yours is a really neat and permanent fix.

Thanks all. I have a spare inlet manifold which Im going to try the brass pipes with. They're slightly smaller diameter so the hi temp silicon will be more important I think. Will post pictures of that when I'm done.

Bit obvious but stainless ones were v difficult to bend right, brass was much easier.

I'll also post the ebay link later to where I got the pipes from incase anyone wants to give it a go themselves, I would think most SPIs will have this issue.

Unless you have changed the coolant and maintained the system.

As promised here's where I got the pipe from...I got 500mm lengths of both and if you don't mess up the bending you'd get two inlet manifolds worth out of that length...or one :)

Stainless Steel - 15.87mm/0.625" T304 (could be polished if wanted)

Brass - 15.8mm

The Brass pipe is 'looser' than the steel.

This is a great repair, I'll probably end up doing this as mine are getting knackered I'm not quite sure how they're not leaking!

Great work Pops!

What did you use to bend the pipes? It looks amazing!

The pipe bending, especially with stainless was tough. First attempt flattened the steel on the big bend. We have a set of copper pipe benders for heating pipes. Have different profiles for different pipe sizes and bends but ended up using a 22mm bender set (15mm was too small) and packed it out with some lead. Then it was a matter of being careful to keep everything inline and not going too far when bending.

Also have pipe flaring tools to get the end right.
