I don't think any of the shows held at the pod are that good anymore! I went to classic Ford show & entered my S1 Escort RS Turbo into show & shine. Very poorly run & also entry to the pod is getting expensive!

Well I wouldn't go that far, I go to BugJam most years and that's always great show

Pod is a good venue.  I've been to a few good car shows there over the years.

MITP, however is one show I'll never bother with again.  moving from Cornbury Park was a bit of a poor move IMO.

As for the adverts, yep, not great.

MITP (at the Pod) has always been my favourite show of the year (as both a punter and a trader), but It's unfortunately been going down hill for the past few years.

A number of the traders are moaning... too expensive, bad layout, long day etc.

We are actually giving it a miss this year and it will be interesting to see if other trade do as well (they have been moaning, so they should give it a miss). Fingers crossed it's a bad turn out and it gives the organisers the kick up the behind that is needed. In my opinion, it's because of the shows previous success that it's now badly ran - it feels to me like the organisers have taken it for granted with a "they will always turn up to take there Mini on the strip" kind of attitude.

The jet cars, drag cars, jumping quad bikes etc. are getting boring now... it needs something/someone to offer some fresh ideas.

Regards,

Andy @ Optimise Automotive.

I don't think they had a choice with leaving Cornbury.  But I certainly don't go to Santa Pod.  I went once, that was enough.

Why haven't any organisers picked up on what us mini nuts like from the old days of corn bury park?

Do any organisers read these threads? "Mini at Cornbury" ?

Himley Hall, Stanford Hall... two Mini shows in a field, with a big hall.

Both British Mini Club events, both great.

I'm still going to go this year as its close enough to where I live. I went last year and it was enjoyable enough. My little boy enjoyed it which is a big plus for me.

I am a classic mini newbie so I can't speak for 'the good old days'. I hope to attend a variety of different events thou. I went to the Mini and Metro show at 'The British Motor Museum' Gaydon. That was ok but could have been better for sure.

Also, why at this event do the organisers feel the need to cram everyone who's camping right on top of each other in rows? They park you as they do at L2B Crystal Palace (which I understand as there is limited space at Crystal Palace) But at Santa Pod you end up all crammed on top of each other with a load of field empty once they have done so!! I go to many shows where I camp at Santa Pod and MITP is the only event where they do this. Not once have I ever been marshal parked at any event at Santa Pod apart from MITP. Putting campers in cramped rows is definitely unnecessary at this event as it's no where near and not even close to the turn out of other event held there!! This event definitely needs a rethink for the camping side of things as well.

That's my rant over with MITP!!

Neither shows are like cornbury parks layout, interaction or camping arrangements etc

Good shows compared to Pod though.

Pod is good if you like that kind of show with the strip etc but were not all fans of that style of event.. mix that with lacklustre organising and entertainment and for the fans of the original MITP it just doesn't cut the Mustard.

think it might be a quiet strip as most of the big boys aren't going this year, mainly the turbo boys

I went with my family,£20 each to get in was a saw point. We enjoyed the show but it wasn't amazing. I've been out of the show scene for a long time, back when mitp was at Cornbury. That was a good show, why did it move? The Santa Pod venue has changed a lot since I last went. What happened to the barn at the back of the track? It was good laugh to see it cleared out by the jet car. Talking of jet cars, what was the deal with the jet mini? I think the support vehicle went up the track quicker. I remember the British mini showdown that was at the Pod,that was a good show too. Next year I think I will give it a miss even though it's not that far from me.

£20 each?! Honestly I love minis but the NEC classic motor show is brilliant and different every year, you won't see it all in a day in much depth, two days if you want to watch anything like live shows or welding demos etc, there's only so many times I can see the same cars on the same stands in the rain with a £5 burger for lunch, lol
