hi All,

got hold of a mini to work on here in Sweden and have a couple of questions about the emission re circulation set up that's on the car at the minute

its got a brass or copper manifold that's attached to the head in 4 places, what exactly is it going into?

can these manifolds and full systems be found now?

can i just remove an forget about it?

pump is somewhere among the spares!

cheers

it is the same set up that was fitted to the Californian cars.

you will need to discuss with the testers re the emissions.

Seen this on my dad's 84 Austin maestro.
It injects air to reduce emissions, never really believed it did anything... I did recuperate all the parts before the car disintegrated a few years ago.
I'm sure you could just plug them or get a new head, but I'm no expert I just never seen this on a mini before. 😀

The export heads have threaded holes where the secondary air injection system goes, details in some early Haynes manauls, the holes could be plugged and pump system removed if local laws allow or get another head.

Ask the tester what the test limits are that the car will have to test.

Californian mini's never had this set up as the import of mini's stopped in 68 before the requirement of air injection, however Austin America's (ADO16) had this system as they continued to be imported after 68

The best thing to do is to remove as much as possible.

because if bilprovningen sees that something like a EGR sits there it have to work.... and they never do.
If they don't see it you will pass.
