Rattle Only Under Acceleration

I feel stupid. It turned out to be the exhaust bracket on the gearbox. I'd checked it over in the beginning but didn't wiggle it enough I guess. That combined with what looks like worn bushings on the lower steady. Mystery solved I think. Thanks for all the suggestions!

At least it was something simple, we all have those days. Like when I tried to start my engine for the first time after the re-build - don't get the choke and the heater control knob mixed up or you have trouble starting when cold :shy:

The steadies in a mini all work in conjunction together. I've had it recently where one steady was disconnected and I drove it while I was waiting for parts (bad idea) it put further strain on other mounts/steadies which ultimately lead to *another* mount breaking.

 

If one steady bush has gone, be sure to inspect the others properly for wear (especially engine mounts!)
