    One Carb Or Two?

I've had an advert running for a car on here and other media for some time. I got a lead on a domino that's been sitting since the early 90's so I went and knocked on the door.

After some talk and persuasion that I wasn't there to rob the place the old dear let me have a look at her late husbands car.
It's partially stripped and boxed up but no chassis number.
I've checked the entire shell and nothing ( just the drill holes on the firewall) There's a number plate and some old spares but that's it.

I don't want to push things too hard as the car has sentimental value to her.. is it a risky prospect buying a car that's been off the rd for so long without a v5 or vin number?

Can anyone tell me the vin number from the reg so I can check the car out before I hand over any cash? I'm not after ripping her off so it will be fairly decent money I could stand to lose.

Any help appreciated
Thanks

Try this, if I remember correctly, if you set up an account then you can do vin searches

Car not found

Dvla reg is still ok and live but I'm not happy to part with so much money without doing my homework as it is a kit car after all.

Maybe been off the road too long for some searches? Txt check didn't find it but auto trader did.

If its not top secret can you post the actual registration number up on here? A pal of mine had the same dilemma and he got the VIN from somewhere, I will ask him if he can run it for you.

It's not top secret no. Just want to keep some of the details off the net atm.

Thanks very much

Don't you get the Vin when you run a full HPI check?

Try phoning the DVLA - they can be quite helpful.

A BMW site, but works for all Uk plates. Not sure on older cars though. You just enter your reg an press 'find my BMW' no need to create any accounts or pay for anything
