Hi all, I've just bought a 1380 which has pockets on the pistons. What manufacturers made these types? as I can't seem to find much info. I presume they are for forced induction.

what do you mean by pockets?  cut out for Valves?

quite a few can be machined as such.

makers info is normally easily visible on them.

I couldn't see any stamped markings at first glance. Maybe I will post a picture. They have 2 pockets machined on the top of each piston, one being bigger than the other which look like clearance for valves. On tdc the pistons come proud of the deck by a few thou. Being a 1380 it must have had a big cr unless the head used had big chambers.

dont forget dish CC.

most pistons can take a fair bit of machining.

maybe the builder was just being save for any over rev situations. as it tends to be the valves that come out worse on the 5 port. been there done that. thanks "quick Shift" still have pistons and rods for another build.
