Toyota is investing heavily in hydrogen.

Anyone remember Betamax? The revolution was the answer... (just like EV's) until something else came along.

I think it will be a mix... a 'hybrid' of hydrogen and electric that will eventually be the answer to the riddle. Well in my opinion anyway.

I'd happily convert my classic to hydrogen or some other fuel that's cleaner and greener to keep it on the rd.

I watched the 'end' of 4 star fuel and everyone was told the only way forward was to convert. Companies soon found money in additives and fuel catalysts etc.
I don't see our crusty little friends being permanently taken off the rd and I don't see a world of electric cars either.

We're still in 'betamax' phase

Hydrogen is really dangerous stuff mate, I would dread to think of the explosion in a crash or if a leak occurred.

It's as 'safe' to carry as petrol. It's all in the science mate...

It doesn't pool vapours like petrol and in a leak situation it disperses very quickly.

Now electric cars on the other hand burst into very fierce fires due to the battery tech if the pack is ruptured. Anyone see the electric car Richard Hammond drove off course?
Have a search for mobile battery fire on YouTube. It's the same tech used throughout the EV industry... even tesla ev's.

I'd have hydrogen over a massive battery fire bomb under my seat

I remember in the 1980's when the then president Ronald Regan of the USA said that they had or would introduce 'Star Wars' laser capabilities in space to counter the threat of neutralising a nuclear warhead fired from Russia during the cold war, that turned out to be a load of rubbish as well. Sounds like 'All Fur Coat & No Knickers' to me.

Besides, modern cars now have Wi-Fi and blue tooth, mix that with a 4 wheeled hydrogen container and a smart computer hacker......

I think the world has gone and got it's self in a big damn hurry (Quote from 'The Shawshank Redemption')

I'm not a fan of cars that can be hacked either. the new tesla 'budget' EV is a prime example.
Also have you seen the control panel? It's an iPad looking thing... bit of glare?

I think your right that were rushing into things..

By hydrogen and electric I assume you are referring to fuel cells. see https://en.wikipedia.../wiki/Fuel_cell

The next problem is how to 'make' the hydrogen and the ratios of energy needed to do it.

Definitely everything is still at the Betamax stage!!
