Hello all.
Looking to tidy up my suspension bits so have cleaned most of the rust off by soaking them in Coca Cola to remove rust and crud. Cleaned that off and sprayed with primer. I want to give it a nice durable top coat and was thinking tractor enamel.
Anyone used it and can recommend or recommend another item. Have used hammerite in past but recently I haven't been too impressed with it.

Tractor enamel is great. Highly recommend it for subframes and bits that come off.

If tractor enamel is synthetic enamel then it's great for this application

I got a por15 kit it contains a degreaser, metal prep, a small tin of paint and some.rubber gloves and 2 brushes. Think it's about £20-£25 compared to about £40 for the bigger tin. I've done both hubs and top arms and some other bits with it and still some left over

I just buy whatever black is on offer in the Agri parts catalogue. I don't spend much it's ~20-25 quid for a big tin probably 2.5 litres

Thanks. Will have a look. Had a look at amazon/eBay and seem to be around same price but wasn't sure if any brand was better than other.

You would be slightly better in terms of durability with epoxy, but frankly when you take cost and ease of application into account, tractor enamel will suit most people. It is preferable to traditional "chassis black", an ill-defined commodity, some brands of which are very good and others worthless.

You should probably use an etch primer first for the very best results.

The big question is which colour to use, and there is no right or wrong answer. I happen to like red or yellow, but if originality matters you may need black.

Have fun, and don't forget the brush cleaner for afterwards!

Have a look at Vapormatic or Sparex for tractor paint, very reasonably priced and lots of colour choice. Providing you like tractor colours...

Thanks for all the responses. It's just plain black I would like but having been to a few shows which have included tractors etc, I just thought how good the old tractors looked and thought they must've been through a lot worse than a mini goes through. Unfortunately, I never asked what they used. At least I've got some leads to work on now.
Cheers
