The car I have bought has bullet mirrors which are as useful as a chocolate teapot so I'm looking to replace them but want to try and stay as close to the original design as possible.

On this year model would they have been chrome or black? I look on the net trying to get an idea but they vary so much on the pictures

May have been black on a 79 car

Ah now that's confusing me lol

I know the trim is black on the GT's after 77 I believe so that's what made me query is should be chrome or black. Not sure if it was a choice for people or you just had one type depending on the year?

I had a 1978 1275GT and they were stainless, I think they changed for the last years of Clubman Production around 1980 to black

If the wipers were black then the mirrors were black. I have a 79 Spitfire and this had black mirrors. Luckily my GT is a 78 so chrome going on these. At the end of the day fit which ones you prefer and post some pics :)

1979 1275 GT exterior trim wipers, door mirrors, sill finishers, "chrome shiny look" . Actual material stainless steel for mirrors and wiper arms. Plastic "chrome" for sill finishers.

Cheers folk for the help....just had its first MOT since 2007 as bought it a couple of weeks ago and it passed without a single advisory so now it's about the finishing touches to improve it
