Unless it's radically different to Lucas,

The motor has a permanent (ignition dependent) feed that's interrupted by the park switch on the motor. You have parallel circuit(s) for low 'n fast, as they don't run through the park switch it won't stop until you turn the switch off. If you want momentary, you just need a momentary switch position "piggy backing" your slow speed position.

There's a refinement in that the park switch not only breaks the permanent feed, it also earths the +ve side of the motor to drain any residual current in the windings and stop it dead - so it can't overrun the park switch and set off running again. A dual pole switch [if you can find one*] will allow you to run the park circuit through your dash mounted switch so it can be turned off when the running circuit are turned on.

*You will if it's an actual wiper switch, but you could use the switch to operate a normally closed relay on your park loop instead .

I don't know who brought in the twin speed as I never did.

as I said earlier it is sorted with a couple of switches as there are no MOM/OFF/ON switches available

I can do it two ways have a live to the park circuit when the car is on. and then have a OFF/MOM and a OFF/ON to do as needed.

Or wire the Park through a OFF/ON/ON and have a OFF/MOM wired through the first ON as it needs that circuit to be live for the self park.

fairly sure that is now sorted.

jNFIm6E.jpg

 so motor is M8

control relay K30

ignition live BKVT (park function power

BU trigger and continuous running

relay to be replace by switches.

main OFF/ON/ON as i do not want a live up front if not doing anything. (would be cut off by big switch anyway)

First On will activate BKVT wire and also go to a OFF/MOM switch to the BU wire to give a wipe and park.

Second ON  will give continuous wipe via the BU and park when turned off one click.

dont think there is an easier way? thoughts?

cheers

Ok, though replies are best written for anyone who reads the forum and as you didn't mention 2 speed you didn't rule it out either.

The main point I wanted to make is about the park switch earthing the +ve side of the motor. If you're to avoid shorting to earth the feed in to the park switch needs isolating before the motor is connected to any other supply.

Ignition live - park switch (terminals that are joined when it's not parked)- wiper control switch (to break park circuit when wipe selected) - motor +ve terminal.

That means, if you want self parking without melting, any switch that turns the wipers on must open the circuit between the park switch and motor + terminal first.

I reckon, if you only have one speed, a crossover relay would be simplest. Motor on the common terminal, connecting to park 87a or run (ignition live) 87. That would give you wipers on wipers off functionality to run off any sort of switch(es) you like. It's also failsafe as you'll never hook up park and run together.

is that not built in to the motor. as the two feeds are Live at the same time.

Not usually.

Both park and 'run' are connected to the motor's +ve, but when the park switch operates what was a supply through it becomes an earth - which would short your run wiring, not just the motor as intended. Hence why the wiper stalk breaks the park circuit as it makes the wipe circuit.

nope look at the diagram single feed splits into two one to the park circuit and the other to the relay for the control of the trigger and running. M8 and K30

Where did that diagram come from! :mmkay:

It's obvs different to old style Lucas then. Since it's run off one output from one relay (plus that supply direct from F16, which surely feeds the park) it can only be on or off so you can do pretty much what you like to put some amps down the line.  M2 K8 looks more like a Lucas style 2 speed setup.

they do sneak up on you some times.

i cant believe how hard it is to find a OFF/ON/ON double pole and a OFF/ON MOM from the same seller with a plane "steel" toggle finish.
