I bought a Hornet! Very excited, haven't picked it up yet. It'll be a slow running project using the engine from my now for sale Mayfair, a 1293 with SW5 cam and rather too-short final drive, so should be good fun. Have a picture:

Damn you Photobucket.

It's here, looks really good. Scruffy but solid, just the way I like it! First task will be to have a good dig around for any nasty bits, and then fit new brake calipers and pads.

Anyone know how to post photos on here now Photobucket has gone?

Yes use imgur. When you've uploaded the pictures to imgur, click on the one you want and you'll see a list appear on the right. Copy the very bottom one and paste it into your post on here.

Had half an hour this evening, so did a little investigating. Took the wheels off, to find Gaz dampers and hilos-nice. Needs new brake discs and a good clean up all round, but so far 'scruffy but solid' is proving fairly accurate. Ideas on cleaning headlinings? Or is this one too far gone?

Are they 7" brakes rather than 7.5"? If so, I'd be taking them off and selling them, they're not all that good but people wanting originality on their Cooper might buy them.
Also looks like no split pin through that hub nut?

They're 7.5", but I have new calipers and discs to go on anyway.

Hawkeye- you are spot on, no split pin and also everything is only hand tight. What I'm guessing happened is the person to sold it to the friend I bought it from had stripped it down, then changed his mind and threw it loosely together to sell. I'll be going over everything, certainly!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to having some! The daily broke down yesterday so I've that to sort this weekend, once that is done I'll be able to have a play.
