Has anyone had bought a Mini Spares non genuine bonnet linked below? I'm on a bit of a budget and in need of one. Good fit? Any issues?

I have used one that was supplied by a customer.

The raised section in the middle is a little too wide but the fit was best described as OK as it is difficult to blame and individual panel when non genuine wings were also fitted.

I did need to re profile the curve using a shrinker as the bonnet stuck out past the front panel by about 10 mm.

I will say the bonnet is quite flimsy and easily pops up a down when hand polishing.

Personally I would pick up a second hand genuine bonnet or repair the one you have.

Although not bought from Minispares it was still a pattern bonnet from Magnum which is what the MS one is and the fit was terrible. Nothing lined up. Huge gaps down the sides and front and the hinge mounts had to be extended. Never ever again.

Try and get a decent second hand one.

Thanks for the replies, think I'll just spend the little extra on a genuine one. Thanks again.

You can pick decent secondhand ones up for about £30 ...almost the same refinishing process as buy a new one.

Stick a wanted in the classifieds section, you will find somebody locally to help you out.

I have one but it has a small amount of rust in the front edge, so I don't think it's what you would be looking for?
