With Photobucket turning into a steaming turd hole of rotten despair (and don't get me started on all the f*****g adverts on there website), does anyone have a good solid recommendation for a simple but effective Web image hosting service?

Many Thanks.

I'm using Imgur, it is for the most part streets ahead of Photobucket, however, while MUCH faster, I find it doesn't have quite as user friendly features - or maybe I just need to learn it some more.

I invested in a Western Digital 6TB external drive, I can access it through a WIFI connection when I'm away from home via a secured password etc.. It's a few hundred quid, but I know exactly where all my photo's are. Apple, Microsoft, photobucket and Flickr's drives/networks could be anywhere in the world, mine are in my living room in a black box all safe and sound, separate from my laptop in case it crashes. :)

I've just done the same however I find Imgur much easier to use. As a lot of people have said I don't know why I didn't move there sooner. No stupid pop up ads.

I agree with most of that. There's really only one thing I am having trouble with or can't do. I have my photos arranged in albums and moving photos between albums doesn't appear possible or I am missing something - which is probably more the issue.

It's lightening fast compared to Photobucket at any time ever was, it did get mega slow the last couple of years, with loads of pop ups (what a disincentive to pay to use the site).

I'd been looking for a new Photo Hosting site for a while (as I was getting browned off with the pop ups) and looking back, I think Photobucket's last act has done me - and possibly many others - a favour.

Im having moderate sucess with IMGUR, what i find awkward however is the slow process to click on embedded photo links, it takes longer than it did on photobucket,

but photobucket was full of so many ads, and took forever to work in the last 5 years it really makes me wonder whether the paid for version would actually be any good?

Im interested in people using a NAS drive, are people able to embed photos to project threads from a NAS if you are running it from home?

I have a synology drive and would be interested to hear the answer

Doubtful, there's been various comments from people online saying the $400 is still total rubbish.

Not really surprising really given how poor the website is.

I would consider a reasonable fee to a photohosting site, by reasonable, to me, that's probably about 20 bucks a year (considering what it is) and if that was the terms for photobucket, I would have most likely paid and kept going with it, however, the pop-ups turned me off even considering something like that and I'd been looking for a new site for around 12 - 18 months - before this latest try on by photobucket.
