Hi all,

Getting to the point where i'm slowly putting the engine back together, but whilst it's apart I did consider replacing my cam. It's a 1293cc MPi block with a GT1752 turbo. Aiming for no more than 150bhp/120lbft. Would I be best to stick to the standard MPi cam or get something else?

Regards

Steve

I would recommend the avonbar phase 2 cam. Itsva superb all round cam that pulls it's heart out and it works great with the gt17.
Mine pulls very strong from 2600 to 6600 revs 172hp at 13psi.
I used the ultimate phase 3 for a while, that was just mental. Great on the track though. There are many cams available, like the 266 which is a good proven cam, but I know what works for me and the ph2 takes a lot of beating for an all round road cam.

What was the power band for the phase 3 burchy?
I've got a avonbar phase 2 in mine timed in at 10 degrees. It pulls very well. Loads of torque with the gt17.
Not got it rolling roaded yet but it puts a smile on my face at 10psi!

Hey Josh.
The ultimate ph3 was a reworked original ph3, it used to rev up to 8k very easily which was a bit too much for the motor. Benross didn't like me running that cam, it was timed in at 110. It didn't produce anymore power over the ph3 but it was a lot livelier on the track, great fun to drive but it did knacker the primary gear and the flywheel. So I removed it for a later build.
You won't be disappointed when you get your car on the rollers mate, it will be happy to run 14psi.

Are you using sc injection setup Steve? It doesn't use a cam sensor so your not restricted to an MPi type cam.

Not forced induction, but I'm amazed how well the SW5 is, especially when I'm used to the much tougher SW10.

Think the screen setup can run with a cam sensor or without depending on the setup,

You could get a ph2 ground on an mpi cam but it would probably be easier to use a Kent 274i, that would be a good cam

Nope, unless they've changed it recently?  have the MPi kit on mine, using an earlier block as it didn't have the cam sensor, got it mapped fine without one.

That's good news! As at the moment my biggest concern about fitting the turbo is how close it is to the cam sensor!
