Evening all.

I have just taken delivery of a Mini which I will slowly restore into a show car.

Its a 1998 Mini Cooper MPI non-sportspack which someone at some point has painted Hot pink..

Being laid up for the best part of a decade in the wettest part of the world hasn't done it many favours but surprisingly, It isn't as bad as I was expecting.

Only 19,000 miles and it runs and drives pretty much spot on!

I met it in Southampton and drove it onto the ferry. As you can imagine, it got some looks, plenty of comments and stories about how people used to own one etc.

When we went to unload it back at the garage, the immobiliser was on and the fob battery is flat so I couldn't start it.

I'm so relieved it didn't do that on the ferry!

Anyway, for now, ill leave some pictures

Can't wait to see how you transform the pink beast into something beautiful, have you decided what colour it will eventually end up?

Nice registration plate for someone named Sam

Looks like it's going to be a challenge to my uneducated eye. :o
Are you sure the 19k is genuine and not 119..219..etc?

The plan is to return it to original.

So like this

Then it will go back on it's original number hopefully so R66SAM will be sold on most likely

Odd that it had a new front panel. Must of hit something?

I have an MPI so would love to see the go back to standard. Maybe put an S kit on like I did?

It needs no more than any other Mini to be honest, just each part is a bit worse than others but panel wise, it will need the standard Mini stuff.

And i'm quite certain the mileage is genuine

Cheers

Ben

It'll be interesting to see the transformation, did you not fancy doing something a little more modified?

I don't think it has had a new front panel, It's just been brush painted black on the slam panel.

Ill have a closer look tomorrow. Today was the first time i have seen it as i stupidly* bought it blind

Cheers

Ben

It's all original by the looks of it.

I don't think it's been welded as far as I can see.

it could certainly do with some now though!
