I've been using additives in old cars for ages, it's no biggie.

As said you only need to swap the cylinder head or upgrade the existing cylinder head by fitting hardened valve seats to go unleaded..........no one in their right mind would replace a perfectly good engine completely just  to go unleaded!

Castrol Valvemaster, simples.

 

Both my Minis came from the factory unleaded, (even an MPi),  both now have valve sizes  that are too big for unleaded seats , so just bulk buy valvemaster plus. Even includes octane booster too which is useful for their High C/R/

Valve seat inserts are the way forward. You'll also get a power increase over your old head as the valve seal will be restored during the head rebuild process.

Here are some insert machining being performed on a 1098 Morris minor head;
