Hey All,

Just discovered that Castrol valve master is now discontinued, what are peoples thoughts on the  best alternative? (no, unleaded seats aren't an option)

Bit shocked to see the Millers version treats 40l per bottle, Castrols used to treat 250 litres..

Im a little worried this is going to get expensive, I'm doing nearly 400 miles a week atm.. >_<

There is still loads for sale on the web.

I think I'll buy a lot of bottles to keep me going for a long time as I need the Valvemaster Plus to cope with my CR of over 11:1.

Millers vspe looks looks like an alternative.
Lead replacement, octane booster and ethanol protection.
500 ml bottle treats 500 litres fuel £26ish.
About the same price as valvemaster plus.

The Millers vspe seems a good choice, though im confused, the 250ml bottle says it treats 40L, the 500ml bottle says it treats 500L aha,  :ohno:

Thanks imack though, panic over anyway, £30 for 500 litres is good, I was seeing £12 for 40 litres last night with the 250ml bottle of millers.

Cooperman where can you find it in the UK? I'd rather stay using Castrol Plus if I can find it.

I run large offset valves, so not enough meat for unleaded seats unfortunately :(

They'll be boxes of it at the NEC classic car show on November no doubt, I'll grab a couple then.

I've also been using the Millers VSPE Power Plus (Multi Shot), mainly to raise my octane by 2 points and because it also contains anti-oxidants to improve the fuel life.  Bonus on this it protects against Ethanol and is a Lead Replacement to boot!

The situation with Castrol Valvemaster as I understand:

- Castrol Valvemaster has been discontinued

- Castrol Valvemaster Plus still available from current stocks

Apparently once current stocks are finished then Castrol will make decision about continuing to manufacture batches. I hope they do as this is what I have been using ever since LRP stopped being available at the pumps.

And like Midas Mk1 I don't think valve seat inserts are an option with 35.6-31 head. Not offset, but there's only about 0.75mm between the valves.
