the bonnet looks as if it's Fiberglass
otherwise they would have bent it to a better fit ? ( I may be wrong)

The way I read it is that the front brakes are drums. No Cooper 997 or 998 was made with drum brakes on the front. Think it's a cobbled together '60s car.

Sounds about right, and he could have wound the screws all the way into the gauge pod
