Slightly off topic, but where did you get your car mats from? I love them!

I'd get one of tne 70s style ones from the Mini Special. Looks original, is just as handy, fits in better and doesn't over crowd the place.

Very nice, just need the chess pieces now ;D

Part of the Mini's appeal is the amount of space you get for such a small car, and although a console would look great, actually sitting in the drivers seat with the space between you and the passenger side blocked off would, in my opinion, make things feel cramped. Great for the photo shoot but in reality add little to the driving experience - and it would get in the way of the heater flow to your toes, not good if it's a year round car.

Jeeze, I'm starting to sound like a motoring journalist :shy:  Your car so do exactly what you want, don't listen to others opinions - it's their opinion but it's your car (and a very nice one too :proud: )

I had a centre console once but i removed it because it got in the way of my big feet when using the clutch .

Exactly the same for me. Bought the car and it had one fitted, after driving it round the block, came home and took it out. Don't get me wrong, the extra storage is nice but trying to press the clutch in with my size 11's was a bit of a squeeze with it fitted!

Have a go at making one. That way it'll be right for you and what you want (and the size of your left foot!). I made one and it does the job, I was just prepared to make a few prototypes before I was happy with the final shape and size.

I quite like my center console personally, I needed somewhere to stick my stereo so I made my own  :proud: I chopped out the area around my feet so it doesn't get in the way, and I don't feel it detracts from the interior space at all really.

P.S sorry for the MASSIVE pic

I had a few issues with mine, mainly that I couldn't actually press the clutch all the way down with it in. Secondly is that any water that got into the car (mine had a leak in the windshield that I couldn't seem to stop for ages) then if the console's made of wood then it will just rot and mould. However, if you make one yourself or find one that's narrow enough to fit your legs comfortably in but wide enough to actually be of use then they do make a lot of difference and can really look good, like you've just seen with that one up there!

Good morning TMF,

Sounds like non of you know about our easy clutch access consoles?

Designed with usability in mind, the driver side is shaped different and doesn't have the full side - allowing you full access to the clutch.

The range can be found on the website here: LINK
