Hi

Im rebuilding my Turbo engine after ~10 years of use and have come to the cam timing.

 

As I understand many of you use MG Metro cams and time it to 108
I have the std Metro Turbo cam (I think ), is 108 the number to go for?

 

(Looking at my notes from when I built 10 years ago, I aimed for 105. Why, I dont know.)

105 should pull the bottom end up a little at the cost of a but if top end so I wouldn't worry overly about it.

Regarding chain stretch.

 

If aiming for 108 some say set at 106 and some say 110.....

Which is right!?

 

My thoughts is that the number will go up when the cain stretch, so if I want 108 Ill set it at 106 if I expect 2 degrees stretch.
Is that correct?

good point and somthing that can catch out even the most experienced!

 

the cam is timed from the inlet lobe which should be timed 108 deg after TDC, so as its following the crank a lower number is advancing it, so yes I agree with you.
