Going to start a new thread about this. With all the fault codes cleared, my car still has problems. The other day I feared it wasnt going to make it home. Had a real fueling issue it felt. So, I'd like to check the fuel pressure and was looking for what is the best way to do that.

As I will have to view the pressures while on the move, I figure I will just run with the bonnet off so I can see the gauge. I really dont like the idea of running a pressurized fuel line through my interior. Wondering if anyone can give me any specifics on the types of fittings used for the fuel lines where they attached to the throttle body. Seems like the easiest place as I do not want to cut anything. Pix of your setup would be amazing!

Thanks!

Does the SPi use the same connectors as the MPi?

You may have to get creative. In the US, Harbor Freight sells a fuel pressure gauge system. With some adaptation you can connect their meter to an MPi. I do not remember the exact name for the style of connector used on the MPi, but there is a close match in the kit. I did have to lightly sand the adapter to make it fit better.

The large meter face did not lend itself for a running test, but was fine for static testing. I also wanted to see what was happening on the road. I adapted a small Russell pressure meter using Russell adapters from AN to the MPi style. This gauge I could place under the wiper and tape to the windscreen with the bonnet off.

I'll have to take a few pix of the SPi setup to see but it doesn't look like it from that. My feed and return lines are a crimp fit from the hard lines that come/return to the fuel tank. There is a flex line from the crimp to a crimped on hardline that wraps around the throttle body. I was assuming I would have to match the threads where it connects to the throttle body.

It looks like Rover used the same tool for SPi and MPi, but there was an adapter required for MPi.

I think the basic Harbor Freight version would have the barbed slip fit connector for the SPi.

Or you could easily adapt the Russell performance gauge. Summit has all the Russell items and the braided line that I used.

To be honest, I never noticed that the connections in the pictures you attached were just spring clips and not a perminent crimp. If that is the case, I feel like I should be able to figure out a way to hook it all up. Sweet!

Harbour Freight really makes some terrible gauges. I have a compression tester that is so off, its unreal. It was silly cheap but still. The gauge read 100psi where my proper quality gauge read 200psi. Tested two more to be sure. Its just crap! I'll look more into all of this and get back to you all.

I still have not hooked up a gauge to test. I need to source a proper gauge. Might just install one full-time so I can always check on the go.
