Hi,

We are a father and daughter duo, who have just purchased "Prim", a 1983 1000 city E in Yellow. My daughter is 14 at present and this will be her first car. We will be working on the car  up until she is able to drive. The car is sound with a great engine and just needs some TLC. We drove her back today from Bristol to Tavistock, in Devon (123 miles), with the only issue being the steel coming through one of the tyres! Consequently, the first thing on the list is a set of tyres Dot Date of 4109 so lots of tread but old. Any guidance on replacements welcome. They are standard 145 80 R10 69T. We will start a project progress and post as much information as possible. below are some photo's but the weather today is bad so will update these when it improves.

Thank You,

Chris and Lily.

Love it. As I said to Chris before, the first mini I remember being in was my Gran's A reg city which was identical to yours but was white.

Thanks for all the positive comments, And she has a twin! who would have thought it. Not had any time today to do much just drove her a few miles, We have put the spare tyre on, but its even older then the one below and full of cracks so not going to far until we have ordered and fitted two new front tyres.

The car was off the road for 17 years from 1999>2016 and a garage owner who was a Mini man, he rebuild the engine and carried out the work to get it to the position its in now. The paint is patchy and a full respray is on the cards, buts its not been messed around with at all and the mileage of 39K is original, only three previous owners and the plan is to try and contact them all.

Will Start a Project post soon Named "Project Prim"

They really are twins. Mine hasn't been on the road since 1999 either. Must have been a couple of owners who got new cars for the millennium and gave up on their old minis!

This is now spooky, but i like the theory, bet they wish they had them back now their new cars are worth nothing and may have even been scrapped!
