    Starting My Mini Up

Hi all!

I have recently managed to purchase my first mini, a 1961 Morris Mini Minor. I'm more than excited to get stuck into building, breaking, and learning about how everything works as I piece the car back together.

I purchased the car with all the hard work done, so I don't need to worry about fixing any of the daunting rust that classic minis so often posses. Whilst the car was painted some 20 years ago, it was never reassembled, and the paint has now deteriorated to the point in which it will require a respray. Not to worry! As I have already chosen a color scheme I prefer over its current blue.

I have purchased a very, very rusty '62 model Morris Mini for the drivetrain, chrome trim and interior pieces. I now have almost all of the parts to make the car complete! Including an original 850cc engine (which i hope will provide enough "oomph" for around town driving and the odd road trip  ;D). The car has the early style fleck interior, too!

Really excited to get into the mini scene and become a part of such a large community. I understand that the MK1's are becoming increasingly difficult to find these days.

Thanks very much, all the way from New Zealand!

Jack.

Welcome aboard, great looking project. The only thing I would say is stick with a period correct colour scheme as anything to modern will spoil the effect.

Welcome :) Looks like a nice project and I'm really glad that you'll be fitting an 850 motor and an original interior.
