For racing the only advantage is that they are slightly lighter.
Originally they were designed for the front where hard driving with drums caused a lot of brake fade.

They're called Superfins on their site and unless you're competing or a poseur like me you won't need them.What fins? Ive just been on the Minispares website and Ive no idea what you mean? Do you have a link?

It's difficult enough to get heat into the rear breaks on a Mini, last thing you want is to make them colder!
