Well I have ordered from Amazon a new Motorola Moto G5 Plus to replace my Lumia 735. I don't want anything expensive (I Phone) plus I want to be able just swap the SIM card.and go. From what I have read, it seems to be the best Android phone for the money and the end of the line for the Windows phones has arrived since every day there is less support and fewer apps that actually work.

I am having issues with the Lumia too that will not be fixed, like having to limit the phone to 3G in order to receive phone calls or I only find out about the call if there is a voice mail. At the same time with the flaky AT&T service after the hurricane, it seems that my messages go nowhere without 4G. So it is a no win situation.

Any thoughts about the Motorola phone?

Thanks,

X

I have a big windows 10 phone and i would love to know what microsofts plans are, I can't see them abandonning it but there is no sign of them getting people and app makers on board which is a shame because you get a lot of phone for your money.

I like the Windows phones even though they were not too popular in the US. My wife has the 640 and it seems to be working well. Mine, has these issues plus unlike the 640 and the 640XL, it will not be updated with the next Windows 10 big update, from what I have read.

Yes, I have Windows 10 but it will not be updated any longer on the 735 according to this:

https://www.windowsc...-windows-phones

On the other hand, I received the new phone today. A very impressive Android phone so far. it can be locked/unlocked with a finger print. It is carrier unlocked and completely compatible with GSM and CDMA (not used in Europe) networks. I can stick in any type of nano SIM and it will work. I have been setting it up only with the WiFi, I have not installed the SIM card yet. I have set it up just like my Lumia with One Drive, Outlook Calendar and Mail, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Skype. So all my appointments in Outlook are still there and the same with Emails and documents. Besides that, I have the mandatory Google account (which I already had).

Everything seems to work as well or better than with the Lumia. As an example, I can open a Word document from One Drive and print it to either of my HP wireless printers, only one printer was compatible with the Lumia.

So this might be a nice alternative for the Windows Phone users when the time comes to replace their phones.

My work phone runs Windows and I have an iPhone 6S as a private phone. I don't mind the Windows interface but it isn't as slick as IOS and some of the logic for navigating around seem a little backwards but apart from that it's not bad

I wasn't aware of that buy out !!

I'm not sure, but I am aware - at least here in Aust - while the smart type phones are very popular, there are many, including me, who have been screaming out for phones that are just a phone. There are a few brands about and they sell like hot cakes.

Yes, Microsoft bought Nokia's phone business to turn it in to the Windows phone and then ran it in to the ground.

Nokia took the money and ran. Now they licensed the name for new phones.

Your 950 is still good. It will get the "Windows 10 Creators Update" just like the 640/640XL. The issue is with the older phones upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 like the 735 or older. No more updates for those including security.

https://www.windowsc...s-update-review

The new Nokia branded phones will have the Android OS and not Windows. So what I have learned so far in the transition with mine will apply the same way to the Nokias. It seems that everything MS wise has an android version like, Outllook, MS Office, One Drive, OneNote etc. So you can still use all of that. The text messages (SMS) were transferred from the Windows phone using an app. The only thing that could not be transferred were the Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messages. I copied the pictures since there is no app to tranfer the actual messages.
