Hey guys! First post here. Ever since the first time I saw a Mini when I was a kid I knew I had to have one. When I turned 16 my parents didn't want me to have a older car so I ended up getting a new body style mini. I have owned three and have never had another car. But recently an opportunity came up to get a 1978 Mini on a trade and I don't think I can pass it up. It has a lot of work to be done but I figured what better way to get to know it than to build it! It is pretty solid and everything seems to be there. It does have some rust (most seems to be surface rust) but nothing crazy. Not sure what green it is but it's a dark green and I believe it has the 1275cc motor in it. Anyways I figured I would need a good resource if I'm going to build this little guy. Here's a quick pic I snapped when I went to check it out.

Hi, Good luck with your entry into the world of Skint Knuckles. Colour looks like BRG to me.(British Racing Green). Unfortunately I think once you start looking hard at those rusty sections you'll find it's worse than it looks. Mini rust is like an Iceberg. There are a few Mini owners in Hawaii who might be able to point you in the right direction with your car. All the best. Jim

Haha thanks guys! This will definitely be a project. It's rough but might as well try to save it instead of letting it sit for ever!

It wouldn't sit forever. It would slowly sink and become one with the earth again.
Good luck with it, definitely better to have than the BMW Mini.

MiniMike21, I'm pretty sure CMU has members on Hawaii. It's free to join, and based in Florida. Doesn't allow any of those nasty German Tiger Tanks, oops sorry,I meant BINI, easy mistake to make as similar size. I'm sure they'll try to help you get your classic on its feet. Good luck
