Well I just traded a 250 Honda Motorcyle for this 1978 Mini! Seems to have everything it needs although it needs A Lot of work. Figured I would start a project thread as it is definitely going to be a project! Going to start cleaning up and organizing soon and order a owners manual or Haynes manual for it to get me started. here's a picture of hauling it away on a trailer.

EDIT: '93 Rover SPi...

Awesome. Good luck with it. Hope it soon looks happier than it does on that trailer.

Did a little cleaning and vacuuming today. Going to address the rust hopefully in the next few days. Get some body work done and organize all the parts. Here's a quick picture with my bulldog and mini.

Stripped the interior, did some more vacuuming, popped out the dent on the door, and tidied up a bit. Going to get supplies to get rid of the rust tomorrow. Hopefully this weekend I'll get going on that.

Someone will know better but the rover badge and the 1275cc says it is 1988 or later. Walnut dash suggests MPi or SPi but it has the white “Cooper” roof but by then they even put that on some Mayfairs.

Rear selt belt mounts give it away.

Yes! So after reading more into it you guys are right definitely a SPi probably 90s. I was just going off of the sellers info he told me (I thought it was weird when he told me it was a 78 but had the SPi engine). Is it possible that it is a 78 car with an SPi engine swap? Or probably just a VIN swap to import? Although I was told it was originally sold here in 78.

Look at the left side foot well, it has a recess for the 3petrol pipes.
If it has it, it probably is a 93/4...

I found the stamped in date on the boot latch. Says 06 93. So I guess that clears it up. Looks like it was revinned then? Hmm wonder where it came from. It's a left hand drive car. When I was first reading about all the models etc I didn't think it was that confusing now I'm beginning to see how it definitely could be haha sorry guys.

From what I have read cars older than 21 /25 years old do not have to meet the DOT Federal Vehicle Motor Safty Standards . So a few cars including MPI 's will be found with older id's.
I'm pretty sure there was a video shown on here of minis being crushed due to false age I'd in the USA
