I have a few small holes in the rear quarter of my mini, they range from pin prick rust holes (1mm) after being cleaned up on both sides up to around 4mm rivit holes where the old arches where attached. It's a bare metal respray so was thinking I could simply spot weld the holes up then grind them back?
Thanks for the help

Yep, that's the way to go.

Make sure you remove any remaining thin or pitted metal around the holes either by drilling them out bigger or filing them out.

If you clean the metal back around the hole to bare metal on the inside too, it will stop any reactions with the welding (spitting and splattering etc)

It's also easier to back your hole with a piece of copper (an old bit of copper pipe cleaned up and hammered flat is fine) as this will spread the heat and give you something to lay your weld against without blowing more holes.

Good luck :-)

Ben

Remember to wear a good thick welding glove to hold that bit of copper!!
