After getting a bit despondent with Ebay , facebook market place etc I thought I would try and get a realistic / accurate valuation by those in the know on here.

What I have is (what I believe to be rare as I have not seen another) LES Leston steering wheel.

I have seen big asking prices for different versions of this steering wheel and I would like to determine an accurate valuation if possible.

I have not seen another one of a similar type - anyone got any info?

It is in excellent condition

Some Mk1 Forum members usually know all about Les Leston steering wheels and their values if no luck here on TMF.

It's probably a Les Leston steering wheel, there are plenty of copies about (& they do make modern reproductions) but this one looks genuine- it's hard to fake the patina on that horn push.

Many of the LL wheels were produced by Walsall Wheels who are still in existence (http://www.walpres.co.uk/company.asp). Maybe worth flipping them an Email-they might have records of this precise design.

I've seen a very similar LL design but it was the much more desirable (but not to me) & very expensive wood rimmed wheels. https://www.google.c...iact=mrc&uact=8

I think the wheel probably dates from the very late 70's, BL cars took over Mini production (from the Austin-Morris group) in 1976 & soon started highlighting the BL connection (BL bonnet badge czh4143 etc) & this would look a perfect period accessory for a 77-79 Mini.

As rare as it is i think £100 +p&p would be about right given that it's 2nd hand -don't take this price as gospel as i've never owned, bought, or sold one of these & i might be way off the mark..

Been an interesting foray delving into the murky depths & furthest reaches of the internet.

Les Leston Products Limited was run by his son Nicholas (status listed as current but now a dormant company) https://beta.compani.../filing-history https://beta.compani...sY/appointments

This looks familiar (apart from the deep dish & VW badge instead of a Leyland Cars logo) http://www.ebay.co.u...NIAAOSweJ1Zu5by

Perhaps instead of selling the steering wheel it could be the start of your Les Leston Accessories collection....
