I am new to this forum but am hoping that someone will be able to help me with my project.  I am restoring a 1971 Mini Clubman which had a Marston fuel cell tank in it but obviously they don't make this any more.  I understand that some of the works minis had fuel cell tanks in them.  If anyone has photographs of the boot area where the tank was I would really appreciate it so that I can figure out how to reproduce it.

not really something I would look to reproduce though I would just fit a current item.

Thank you for getting in touch.  I may not have been very clear in what I am looking for.  The car that I have originally had this Marston tank in it but that was removed a long time ago and replaced with an alloy tank.  My plan is to get a cell tank made as it was and I am putting a request out there to see if anyone would have old photographs of works or other Minis in the 1970's showing the tank in the boot so that I can get an idea of what it was like.  I am trying to restore a Mini clubman rally car to its original state.  I know it is not likely that people would have had an opportunity to photograph this tank in the boot but you never know.

you will probably find that bag tanks were only fitted to works rallycross cars. For some reason for some rallycross events, normally the televised ones, fell into a category that required them. They were certainly not required at the same period for rally cars.

What a character Dan Grewer was. He was a good friend of mine and in his company things always deteriorated into humour.

so have you contacted Marston? they may have archives. in fact i would surprised if they did not.

colin was in the scrutineering queue near us and the other mechanic who had watched Colin's activities on the Scottish said "we must go and look at Colin's car, because he certainly won't have bought a Marston tank" So we walk over and he is discussing with the scrutineer. the bag tank is a 20lt plastic drum squashed into a plastic bucket and held down by aerolastics. the scrutineer tells him that is not a spec bag tank, so Golin asks im for the British standard spec for the tank so he can prove the tank(?) doesn't comply. This is abit hard while standing in the middle of Cadwell park. So the scrutineer then goes for the roll cage, at which point Colin tells him it's a Volvo and they come with roll cages built in and did he not know that.
