Lease vehicle however its via Audi Finance so they are backing up their dealers

Wont be a problem I'm sure when returning the vehicle as according to Audi its all road worthy condition!

There is the stand point of not my car so why bother however I'm paying tax on a vehicle which is awful to drive and makes the other half feel ill and they've wound me up by saying its not a fault when it is.

Can you not pop to your local MOT place and get their opinion?

I'm sure the DVSA place will operate to the same guidelines.

Yeah can do however to get it in writing will cost me the price of an MOT but could claim it back from Audi

I've contacted the motor industry ombudsman - so will see what they say

Think you been very unlucky here. Sent a 2 year Seat Leon back to the main dealers recently after spotting a leaking/misting of oil on a damper during a service. They changed it no problem. Have you tryed another main agent?

Stop paying the lease as it's obviously faulty? Drop car at garage and inform them you won't be paying for a faulty car and will be claiming back payments for all time it has been faulty.
Lol drop it in the middle of the forecourt locked up with a note in the windscreen stating it's faulty and audi won't honour there warranty, might get a response then

Yeah with Seat VW Audi being the same they would respond the same, Yes went to another dealer but when they put reg in they didnt want to look at it as already on their system (turns out it was a franchise of same dealer!)

Need to kick up more of a fuss then, friend of mine has minor dash squeaks sorted on a merc and current range rover will be going back for a similar issue. both company cars.
As your boss is paying and you via you company car tax you should not accept it.
Leaking shocks would not be accepted come mot time therefore should not be accepted now

If the seals are passing oil but not completely shot like said above surely debris will be getting in and worsening the situation with time. Would it be so wrong to rub a bit of fine sand on the damper shaft? Should stick great to the oily surface and if it's already partially failed that should see it on its way south pretty sharpish.

If they say anything you can just say "Hey, I didn't 'design' your dampers to be covered in oil and attract contaminants".

A leaking damper would fail an mot, as it affects the handling and safety of the vehicle,  so its in an unroadworthy condition.

(2.7.3) Shock absorber has serious fluid leak.

I've tried quoting that to them but didn't help

I've taken things further and reported them to the motor trade ombudsman.

However......

This all may be now a waste of time as some idiot drove into the side of me on Wednesday leaving work. He pulled out of a side road into me on the main road, learner license only as previously revoked for other offences but didn't have anybody in the car with him and also uninsured.

Drivers door, rear drivers side door, side skirt all destroyed due to the fashion to hold bumper on with bonnet pines which ripped through the door panels. However the sill is also bent/dented so might be a write off if its out of line.

At least I'm ok

I'll leave this thread for now

Cheers all for the responses

Yeah, passer by called the Police as I was on the horn and lights trying to get him to stop as it took him half a mile to "find somewhere safe to pull over" ie he was thinking about not stopping
